IN-WATER SURVEY - IWS

VILLASUB is officially approved by DNV and Lloyd’s Register (LR) as a service provider for the execution of In-Water Surveys (IWS), with extensive operational experience in underwater inspection and maintenance services for vessels.

All inspections are performed by qualified and certified personnel, in accordance with approved procedures, using certified equipment, and in strict compliance with applicable Regulations, Class Rules, and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements established by the Classification Societies.

Scope of Services

VILLASUB has the technical capabilities and skilled personnel required to perform the following in-water services:

  • Propeller polishing and performance-related cleaning to optimize propulsion efficiency.

  • Cleaning of sea chests and intake grids.

  • Repair of water ingress points and minor underwater hull damage.

  • Replacement of underwater equipment and fittings, including echo sounders and speed logs.

  • Underwater cutting and welding operations, subject to Class approval.

  • Detailed underwater hull inspections for sale and purchase surveys, condition assessments, or change of ownership, supported by audiovisual documentation.

Inspection Methodology

  • Direct visual inspections carried out by certified professional divers.

  • Use of underwater CCTV and video recording systems for real-time monitoring and documentation.

  • Preparation of technical inspection reports in compliance with Class requirements, including photographic and video evidence.

  • Coordination with the Class Surveyor, when required.

Safety and Compliance

All operations are executed under approved operational procedures, ensuring personnel safety, vessel integrity, and environmental protection, in full compliance with the policies, standards, and requirements of the relevant Classification Societies.
